Currently they seem to be pretty common here in the valley around my place. That said, I had to look it up to ID it. I don't know my birds very well. Even the robin threw me for a loop. I'm used to seeing them on the lawn, not perched up on a dead oak tree.
The woodpecker must be a western variety; I don't think we have them around here.
