Dangerous duck feet! A new farm hazard.

ESTACADA, Ore. – A Washington woman said she was attacked by a duck with “abnormally dangerous propensities” and is seeking $275,000 in damages, according to court documents obtained by kgw.com.

Cynthia Ruddell said she fell down while trying to escape from the dangerous duck, injuring her right wrist and rotator cuff, according to documents filed with Clackamas County civil court.

Ruddell was leaving her motor home parked on land in Estacada owned by her mother when a duck owned by Lolita Rose assailed her, documents said.

The filing, prepared by attorney Gregory Price of Vancouver, said Rose needlessly endangered the public when she failed to maintain control of her animal, failed to keep her duck on her own property and failed to warn neighbors of “her duck’s dangerous propensity” to attack people.

Ruddell is seeking damages of $275,000 for medical expenses, “pain, suffering, inconvenience, humiliation” and interference with her normal activities that resulted from the accident.

Rose was responsible for Ruddell’s injuries and should have known she had an “abnormally dangerous” duck, documents said.

A few more game cam pics

We took Daisy for a walk and changed the cards on a couple of the cameras. 

 The whole herd was there, but this guy above, decided to lick and or blow and fog up the camera for the rest of the photos.

 A couple of geese in the overflow and some widgeon (I think) and mallards.

 Looking for voles.

I must say that although this camera tends to start shooting non-stop when it gets below 30*s, it does pick up movement from pretty far away in good weather. The other newer cameras don't seem to have this problem.  The animals in general have been showing up more often in the day lately, but most of the shots are still during the night. The elk always show up, day or night.

Theresa took the dog and the camera for a walk today about 3pm. I was too tired after the gym. Although it may have been the full day of fruit tree pruning yesterday. My insurance co. was kind enough to buy me a membership to the gym. Once I reached 65, they must have figured it will cost them less in the long run. My premium is $53./mo and the membership would have cost $50/mo, so I am doing ok. 

These were just past the second dam.

I got a different count three times so I numbered them in Photoshop.

This time I counted 54 in the picture,

 not counting the two nice bulls and a cow or two that were out of the picture and up in the brush.

There were Mallards in the North pond

And 

geese

That left pretty abruptly

Some blue birds which hopefully will move into some of the houses we just put up.

A bufflehead or two.

And a hooded merganser in the second pond

Daisy was happy afterwards and continued to try to eat one of her Christmas toys.

Another average day. Life is good!
